Published since 1881 The Los Angeles Times has always been the principle source of news in Los Angeles. Since then it has grown to be the second largest local metropolitan newspaper in the country and the third largest overall.
Starting in the 1960's the paper expanded it's scope to include news and issues of national and international importance joining the Washington Post and New York Times as one of the United States most highly regarded newspapers.
Since 1942 The Los Angeles Times has won 41 Pultizer Prizes, 6 of these being gold medals that were awarded for public service.
