The Shed is focused on the legion of people who tinker in their garden sheds or garages. All over the country on any weekend, the backyards of the nation hum, buzz, fizz and thump to the sound of people creating their dreams. It is an eclectic mix of disciplines incorporating woodworking, engineering, plastics and design. The Shed aims to maintain the interest of relatively experienced practitioners, while providing the beginner with fundamental skills and inspiration. It carries articles and projects on engineering, welding, woodworking, woodturning, plastics and design. Its projects are pitched at an intermediate skill level, with some advanced work, but it also caters to novices in a series of beginners’ lessons. It also highlights workshops, tools and techniques and various characters within the DIY community.
