Interstices Vol. 08

Interstices – A Journal of Architecture and Related Arts is the only established publication of its kind in Australasia.

Since its inception, writers and presenters such a the 2005 Pritzker winner Tom Mayne (USA), Mark Wigley (USA), Francesco Venezia and Renato Rizzi (Italy), Mark Goulthorpe (France, now teaching at MIT), Marco Frascari (Director of Carleton University’s School of Architecture, Canada), Guy Châtel (Belgium), Thomas Mical (Canada), and Laurence Simmons (New Zealand) contributed to contemporary local and international debates.

The journal is published once a year and is supported by editorial board members Andrew Benjamin, Allan Smith, Anthony Hoete, Bechir Kenzari, David Leatherbarrow, Deirdre Brown, Helene Furján, John Macarthur, Jonathan Hale, Jonathan Lamb, Laurence Simmons, Marco Frascari, Mark Goulthorpe, Michael Erlhoff, Mike Austin, Mirjana Lozanovska, Nigel Ryan, Paul Walker, Peter Wood, Uta Brandes.

The current issue, Disagreement, addresses the politics of aesthetics. Several contributions respond directly to the writings of French Philosopher, Jacques Rancière. The double blind refereed part comprises papers by Michael Ostwald (University of Newcastle, Australia), Rancière and the Metapolitical Framing of Architecture: Reconstructing Brodsky and Utkin’s Voyage; A.-Chr. Engels-Schwarzpaul (AUT University, Auckland, New Zealand), Travel in Tropical Islands, Enemies Coexisting in Peace; Carl Douglas (AUT University), Barricades and Boulevards: Material transformations of Paris, 795- 871; Hélène Frichot (RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia), Striving for a Coming Community and the Question of a Life; Leonhard Emmerling (AUT University), PLZKLME; and Stephen Loo and Linda Walker (University of South Australia, Adelaide), And the Open Bridge: Labour, Enchantment, There Forever.
